How to Benefits from Absolutes in coaching?
When it comes to coaching, absolutes can be a tricky thing. We often find ourselves believing that something is true in all cases – we have an absolute belief that things must always go one way. Or another.
While this type of thinking can provide us with some guidance in certain situations, it can also create limitations and hold us back from reaching our true potential.
Absolutes are statements such as “I can never do that” or “That will never work for me”, which become so ingrained in our mindsets that they shape the way we think and act.
Coaching provides us with an opportunity to challenge these beliefs and look at them from different angles.
Coaches help clients to question their assumptions, explore alternative paths and recognize potential opportunities. This can be a powerful experience, as it encourages clients to move away from an “all or nothing” mindset, towards more creative solutions and possibilities.
Coaches also help people to identify the underlying cause of their negative beliefs. These could be past experiences that haven’t been fully processed, unhelpful assumptions about themselves or life in general, or any other type of limiting thought pattern.
Coaching is designed to open up space for clients to process these things in a safe environment, so they can then shift their thinking and grow into new ways of relating to themselves and the world.
